I was just wondering that how come only desi employers are branded as "blood sucking manicas" etc etc ..? Doesn't there exist same kind of breed from other nationalities ? if not, then question is why we desis are like that ? any idea ?
All the desi employers I ran into or my friends ran into turned out to be blood suckers. before that I was employed by an american company for 6 years and I had no complaint whatsoever.
I think most of us desis consider other desis to be inferior and treat them so.

Our I-140 was approved by TSC RN 08/16/06 approved 08/24/06 under regular processing, but we sent 485 package to NSC due to where we live. Received 07/05/07. I was told to call after 30 days, which I did yesterday. I was told a new memo had gone out 08/08/07 internally to each service center stating that all customers should be adviced that let 90 days pass before calling service centers to get receipt numbers. The backlog for data entry was so great that it will take that long before it is all cleared. If you have not received a RN by 90 days then please call back and your case will be dealt with then. He also adviced that as the 90 days approaches, if no RN has been sent to us then make appointment at field office for EAD etc. I did mention that there was no such memo on their website and processing dates showed 07/11/07 for 485. No answer to this. So we wait and see what happens. I can only tell you what I have been told. He did comment on countries with high volumes of visas, "they will be waiting for 10 years plus for actual GC's under the system we have in place right now." Things change everyday, so keep the faith!

I just got my finger printing notice in mail, where as I was actually expecting to get case number first. But anyway, here are my details :
Priority Date : April 2006
Type : EB2
I485 received by USCIS on 3 rd July 2007 ( By R. Williams)
I140 approved from Texas
Sent I485 to Nebraska. transfered to TX.
got EAD, Case Number and Finger printing notice today from TSC.
finger printing appointment on 10/09
I do not know when and where my checks were cashed from because my company lawyers paid for it and I am in no mood to talk to them.
Hopefully everyone will get greencards soon. Good luck to all..... see you all in FBI name check forum.

GC Status:
I am seeing that reedandbamboo is considering for EB2 only. We have to include EB3 too for law-suit. I beleive that we will have more than 1000 people if we inlcude all categories.

Yup, kshitijnt you are right on target, we need to do some thing constructive and let our voices heard.
BECSufferer made it right heading...channel your anger.
My intention was more to think in right way and discourage potential -ve result bound strategies.
During presidential campaign there were all over promises on clearing backlogs, we can go on that basis and make a point of that.
One thing is clear if they like to stop outsourcing sure they have to encourage and stream line legal immigration they cannot stop or survive but cutting outsourcing as well leaving this legal immigration in limbo.
Besides what we can do at this juncture, keep our voices heard by contacting, writing letters.
1. In a world leading country processing a decade back applications is not an encouraging trend to legal immigration, this may send a wrong signal to legal immigration over illegal immigration.
2. Can highlight ecomonic point based on these math...
Ex: 500,000 EB backlog persons contribution to the country, social taxes = xxx, medicare = xxx, travel=xxx, housing =xxx.

GC comes with a 'sleeve' to keep the card safely. The pouch in the sleeve have special silver lining to prevent 'de-magnetisation' over the period. Please, take due care as its not easy to get replacement.
I was advised so, at SSA. As I was about to put the card in my wallet (Ya, I went to SSA to update my ssn) gentleman at the window interrupted me. I thought I should share this small tip with IVian fella.

140K GCs are available on Oct 1. But, dates are not current. Based on this, there appears to be a law that prevents USCIS from recieving ALL AOSs. I am guessing that this law specifies a cap on AOSs that USCIS can recieve from lawyers. (This is why I am keen on knowing conditions for setting dates in VB)
The following argues that it is hard for this cap to reach exactly on the end of every month.

For example July 2006 visa bulletin for EB2 india was jan 2003 and the August 2006 visa bulletin for EB2 india was unavailable. EB2 india visa numbers might have already been used up when the August 2006 visa bulletin was released but they still accepted the AOS petitions filed until the end of July 2006, they did not issue an updated visa bulletin or a revised visa bulletin saying eb2 india numbers are used up and they will not accept eb2 india aos applications, they continued accpeting AOS applications until the end of july 2006.

Can someone explain the process of using AC21 for self employment? I have searched the web without much luck. If someone can throw some light on this topic along with how to deal with issues that come up with AC21 and self employment I would really appreciate it.

I asked my employer if they would tune the clauses to "1 yr after EAD" but they said NO - "it will be 1 yr after GC"
They also told me over phone that they have the capability of revoking
140 and complaining against me to INS if i try to leave before getting the actual GC.
Can they do that - after 6 months they lose that control - Right ??
There are many points on which this agreement can be defended.
1. No fixed time period. Staying upto 1 year after getting GC is same as saying work until the car engine for the company CEO's car goes out. Nobody can predict either one.
2. Usually waiver of filing lawsuit by employee involves sum of money for its consideration. Many employer pay employee month salary (or part/multiple) to offer agreement for not suing. Agreement terms without consideration are usually null and void. For example, I can't have agreement with you that you will deliver free newspaper without stating consideration/compensation for you.
3. Company can claim for GC Expenses and other related expenses if employee leaves within reasonable and agreed period. So probably $10,000 is in the agreement to cover that.
Now for the bad news, defending this agreement could cost much more than $10,000, besides time and hassles. More so, if employee and employer are in two different states as employer can file suit in their state. In short, $10,000 is cost of moving out of this job at the time of your choice. You could also look at it as the added cost of GC.
I suggest you should consider making a plan to move in your life and career. As they say, freedom is priceless.
