WASHINGTON - In a defeat for President Bush, Republican congressional leaders said Tuesday that broad immigration legislation is all but doomed for the year, a victim of election-year concerns in the House and conservatives' implacable opposition to citizenship for millions of illegal immigrants.
"Our number one priority is to secure the border, and right now I haven't heard a lot of pressure to have a path to citizenship," said Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., announcing plans for an unusual series of hearings to begin in August on Senate-passed immigration legislation.

After having been following most of the EB3 related threads looks like EB3 folks are on their own. It would be great if we get any help from any quarter but I think it's fine even if we don't.We need to do something/everything that we can to generate noise apart from of course following all the IV campaigns .

Finally we have decided to go back to India for good. I filed my EB3 in May 2003. Its going to be another 4 years to get the green card. When I went to India for vacation last December, we liked it over there & the economy is booming. There are all sorts of discussion regarding the Economic Gap/Politics/Corruption/Cleanliness. But we like it over there. Finally I will have an option to do something interesting. In US I was very much dependent on my monthly pay check and afraid to take even the slightest risk. I am also scared to use the AC21(Hey, thats the way I am). I am working with the same company for last 10 years, kinda stagnant in the last 4 years. In India, there are lots of choices, either to work for a sw company or start some business on my own. I think I will take the business route.
May be I can go there, earn well, send my son to US for college, do green card through him & come retire in US!!!

I see a soft LUD dated 08/21/2010 on my 485 and existing approved EAD on my portfolio. What doz this mean? Any ideas? Anybody?
My wife got a soft LUD on 8/21. She has PD of Dec 2005 EB2 (I). I wa shappy to see some activity but then i saw the following thread (http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/forum5-all-other-green-card-issues/1599851-ead-renewal-but-i-485-update.html#post1981520) . It looks like some got the soft LUD on their 485 but their EAD was in process and same is the case wiht my wife. She applied for EAD renewal last month.

At one end it is bad that USCIS moved back Nebraska Processing date to June 08 2007 (More than one month backword) but it looks like USCIS is preparing itself to kick EB3-India ahead... It is too early to say this confidently.. But my feeling is that USCIS will keep processing dates tied to June 2007 and will kick EB3-India ahead. I am keeping my fingers crossed. Though as per murthy's web site in May bulletin EB3-India dates will remain same, I am feeling that if my guess is correct then at least from June bulletin we will see 2 patterns 1) Nebraka processing date would not move ahead for some months or will

My wife and I just received the email about card production order. And, ou4 case status has changed on the website to CPO. I wish good luck to all of you. In case it helps, anyone, our details:
Priority date: Feb 26, 2006
I-485 Receipt date: Jul 27, 2007
Steps taken:
SR opened for my petition around July 17th: Response stated that my petition was in the adjudications department, and was for an officer to be assigned.
Status enquiry through the local congresswoman Aug 12th: Same result as my SR.
SR opened for my wife Aug., 10th: No response yet
Infopass appointment on Aug. 16th: Both petitions with an officer since Aug. 12th.
I appreciate the forum and all the support it offers. Donated last month.

I have sent to my state senators + 10 senators IV identified. I have also sent an email to the ND senator after he voiced his support for our cause on the senate floor today. I now plan to write to all 2008 presidential candidates. Most importantly I am going to write to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, as he has always been a champion of business and immigrant communities.

Let's NOT be hypocrites. We are just venting out our frustrations of these never ending Visa Bulletin life...
We all know that we respect each other and value much more than these occasional emotional outbursts. Donors or Non Donors, USCIS treats us as same shit.
My take would be, if people want to Donate or find that their Donation could help their cause, they will Donate. We can only request people to Donate and put forth our 'Selling points', which I think Pappu, Ameya and others are doing it already.
Please don't stoop down to the level of hating each other on the basis of 'Donor' Vs 'Non-Donor'.
I honestly, think IV should rename that to 'Paid member' or 'Privileged' or 'Subscriber', IMHO, it's NO DONATION. People Donate because they expect something in return...we all want other to donate so that we can have bigger impact, but this is definitely NOT the way to go about it.

That's nice to hear. Can he guess what would be the likely outcome? If the judge just takes USCIS/DOS to task then it doesn't help us.
1. Will they make the July visa bulletin current again?
2. If not, will they allow everyone to file for EAD and AP?
3. If neither #1 nor #2, will there be any financial reimbursement?

Even if the court agrees that this is a fiasco and would like to compensate the beneficiaries by allowing us to file for 485, it would be in direct violation of the law that " there must be a number available on the day of filing ".We don't have any numbers. Do we? My point is, will a judicial system go out of the box and allow us to file when there are no visa numbers available? The only way is get numbers and make every one file and the only way for that is to undo what the USCIS has done in the last 2 weeks of June. Just my thoughts. I am ready to take anything positive out of this because I have least hopes pegged on the law suit.
