I am not againist H4 guys but i can't help but laugh when H4 guys complain that they were being treated bad by not allowing them to work.
One has to understand that US allows ppl on a certain basis and H4 is nothing but to join your spouse (or something like that for kids).
One can request them to make a provision for H4 ppl to work but blaming that they haven't done that simply by fogetting on what basis they entered US.... hmmm i don't know.
Questioning their speed of process and other irregular rules... yes i am with you but blaming them for above ... i don't think that is fair.
I wonder how many who come here on H4 know what complexities lay ahead in the G.C processing. unfortunately it is not easy to undo their marriage and go back.
They need a fair deal too just like the way those in EB-3 are waiting for a proposal that addresses their issues more directly rather than trickle down. I guess u r one of them.

If you think it is that ridiculuous, then you should tell the core members that. They did ask us to call him on the last day of LD. There is nothing wrong in writing to him. In fact, you are making a comparison that is not correct.
Actually, it was an exceptional situation. As you are well aware of, we had to get an unanimous consent if the skil bill were to pass in the LD, so, we needed to have Session's approval. To deflect the situation, he just said that his office hadnt received any positive comments.. When we ended up jamming his phones and gave all the positive comments, what came out of that, nuthing.. he did not budge from his stance.. It was just a ploy and even if the entire US of A had called him, he would not have changed his stance.. He had to score brownie points from his supporters. He knows that the Skil bill will be passed next year, and may be some form of CIR even.. He can then blame it on the democrats and stand for re-election in 2009 with complete support from his supporters..
Its all a gimmick for votes. This is politics, same thing in every country, just more sophisticated here...

My attorney just emailed me, she received receipt notices for 485, EAD and AP for both me and my wife.
My application was received on July 2nd 9:01 AM, if it matters it was signed by R Mickels. Also, there is no LUD change on my I140 application, so I guess LUD changes on I-140 mean nothing.
I have not seen the notices yet so I dont know what the notice dates are.
Did the checks got cashed. ???

Come on guys, by now you should not be questioning whether the public is against amnesty or even legal immigration. It is evident that the majority of citizens do not benefit from more immigration. Do you have an idea how much lobbying $ got involved on this without much success so far ? I am surprised that you are even raising this question. Why Americans should want more foreigners to compete with them when the real wages have declined ? That would defy logic.

Immigration is a demographic imperative for America and the rest of the western world. Fact is the modern western cultures that empower women, encourage them to the workplace, make contraception/abortion freely available and make alternative lifestyles a choice, leads to a drop in fertility rates. Liberal leaning countries have amongst the lowest fertility rates, well below replacement levels.
The above makes it an imperative to import labour and yes sheer people to take care of the old and infirm, to keep the service sector rolling even if manufacturing etc is outsourced. The only question is what kind of immigration and how much of it. In short the answer is the USA is not a dumb country, it generally always acts in its self interest faced with these choices. I believe EB immigration will soon be liberalised. This would be a smart thing especially if coupled with a crackdown on illegal immigration.
US population is growing yes, but the elderly population is exploding. More are getting older (baby boomers) and once there there they are sticking aroung longer. I wish there was a measure of working age population only, the growth of that population is probably much less than that of the general population.

No onde denies that we cannot vote. But we have the basic rights, like being treated "equally and fairly". For example, if some employer violates labor law and did not pay you for your work, I am sure you can sue, even though you are not a citizen. There are some basic rights that everyone has, esp. if you hold good fainth and are damaged. Statement that you do not have any rights as you are not a citizen is just wrong. I am wondering how this will impact people's (esp. people from other countries) perception about this. :confused:

When some one decides to apply AC21 by having an offer from another employer, it is not clear if one is required to inform USCIS about it. Some say one should, others say, not required. Has anyone seen any USCIS position on it? If not, perhaps we should make this as a question for next Ombudsman's conference call.

Can you guys let me know whether your checks payable to "Department of Homeland Security" has been canceled? They received my application on June/4 but my check has not been cashed yet. I heard your priority date is the date they actually get your money. Is this true?
My attorney said the checks should be payable to USCIS not DHS. The PD is always ur LC filed date. Receipt date is when the application is received and notice date is when they assing a LIN/wac number and take ur money.
