Since now as per USCIS notice of receipt status as of Sep 7, TSC is also finished with July 2 filings. All filings of July 2, no matter where you filed, should have been receipted. Allowing a few days for mail, all July 2 filers should have their receipts in their hands. NSC is way ahead of course.

Plus in a lot of fields, having an MS or PhD is absolutely necessary.

You are seeing it from a complete 180 degrees than I see it. It's not us who's discriminating, it is the laws which are discriminating. I am asking them to treat us all equal, I entered the country on an H1B which was an employement based application it did not hav any country quota, then why should green cards for EB have country quota. Why should a person from India wait for 10 year and a person from Romania get it in 1 year....I think your ROW friends shold understand our position.
Your strategy is to go against her own bill to recapture greencards that she introduced for us last year.

What you are doing is only dividng the community. My collegues who are also IV members are upset reading that someone in IV is pursuing a one point agenda against ROW. We need to stop and think. A lot of ROW are quiet members on IV forum and they will be upset.
Country caps can only be supported if there is recapture or increase in visa numbers.

AFAIK when you file the A number is allocated. That is the "visa number", and it comes from the country/EB quotas.
once that is exhausted for a country/EB, you have to wait.
it is not the CIS being mean. That is the way the Congress wrote the law. CIS is just enforcing it.
'A' number is not the visa number, it's the alien registration number assigned by USCIS. Visa number is allocated only when the AOS application has been approved.

Mr RSharama, it's 'A's ignorance of the process. He should be aware at the time of starting the Masters that GC is based on the position in the queue ( no body's gives a rat's if the person in front of you is a retard). Porting was legal in 2005 and it is now. there is no change in Law.
You can't compare porting with labor substitution. For porting, you have to go through the complete process and not just throw some dollars.
Same logic applies to people who say "I was eligible to file for EB2, but my employer/lawyer forced me to file on EB3".
It's the ignorance of process, if you are eligible for EB2 .. go join any other company.. it's America .. for God's sake..

Agree.. Most of the Top companies file based on the skill set and Qualification and do file EB2 for people who satisfy that requirement. Its the Desi consulting companies who do all the crappy stuff on earth.
Top companies file EB2 for M.S Degree holders and thats what the law says. If one employer does not file under EB2 even after you are eligible for it move to another one. If you have the correct skillset you should be able to find another job.

As my lawyer has used his checks to pay my 485/765/131 fees, there is no way of knowing whether the checks have been cashed. I did called my attorney a couple of times last week and he told me that checks are NOT yet cashed.
So I'm still waiting to hear from the lawyer abt the receipts.
And it looks like your package was handled at NSC itself, instead of getting transfered to TSC or CSC, hence the LIN#.
I will let you know once my receipts are in.

Today I spoke to a Representative who deals with immigration issue at Sen Mike Dewine's (R-OH) office. I spoke to him for 15 minutes to understand what he and his senator think about this CIR.
Here is he and his senator feels about this bill. It is difficult for him to say that when CIR bill will be introduced in senate floor . It depend on Majority and Minority leaders to decide. Majority leader told to the media that he will introduce before the end of the may, he is mostly consistent, but there are several bills where he has committed a timeline and till today it is not on the floor.
However he told that once CIR pass, legal immigration is already taken care of, but if it does not passes there are bills like SKIL which will be put before the floor. But CIR has to fail or pass before you see this SKILL bill on the floor.
This might be kind of tricky. CIR might neither pass nor fail in the Senate but just being shelved. If that is the case, SKIL might never come to the floor

I am wondering if anybody knows based on what indicators the cases are being transfered from one service center to another? My I485/765/131 went from Nebraska, to Texas, to Vermont (frustrating, since Vermont has the slowest processing times for I485). Any ideas?

Before accepting an Employement with company X, if there would have been an agreement stating they will sponsor my green card (atleast the paperwork), that would have helped me.. hard luck..
