This thread just puts things in perspective. Getting a GC and beyond is a good thing, but in the larger scheme of things, enjoying the present moment and enjoying what you got is far more important. You never know when it can end !

Will I need passport size photos at the time of landing (like for applying PR or any other form) and if required how many photos are required.

I don't think you need the photos for lannding.
As per my research this i the list of documents you need:
� Passport
� COPR
� Proof of Funds
� Few copies of a list stating inventory you wish to take to Canada in the future, list of "Goods to Follow" and when landing in Canada. Include Model Numbers and Serial Numbers of products if they have such numbers.
Good to have:
Birth Certificate.
� Marriage Certificate.
� Driver's License.
� International Drivers License
I am planning to do landing this weekend of early next week..just lilttle worried as i have already used AP so not ure what sort of situtation I will face while landing.

I believe, the family quota is not very farbehind. Defiantly not 4 years.
Even if it is 4 years. She has EAD and AP to hold on to. Instead of both being stuckup it would be better atleast one reaches shore immediately.
Well, you assume family members can get AP and EAD after submitting I-485. Not true for many people. Take myself as an example, I was not lucky enough to file my I485 in 2007. So with a PD of early 2007, I have none of the benefit from AOS at all.
Although for me it's not a big deal because my wife will soon get her PhD and will file for her own immigration petition. This actually works better for us, because it will make the line much shorter and both of us will get the green card much quicker.
However, for those who do not work and solely depend on their spouses to get green card. This change can spell disaster for them during the long wait caused by retrogression without the ability to file AOS.

I got my EAD card yesterday. I am still waiting for receipt number for I-485 / I-131 though.

My checks got encashed this friday. Applications were delivered to NSC on July 2nd, later forwarded to TSC. My I140 was approved in TSC.
When the checks get encashed, the receipts number are printed on the back of the check. Using the receipt number you can track your application. I also subscribed for automated email from the USCIS website if there is any change in the status. I got an automated reply from USCIS yesterday.

I think if there is a genuine reason , may be the 485 can be expedited.
1 Could you call up the IO and ask them what to do ?
2 Meanwhile check wiith ur lawyer.

All checks cashed June 8th. It was sent to Nebrasks. I hardy just could read the SRC letters in back of my check. Online image in not good. I guess it has gone to Texas sercice center.

Labor Substition was a devil which has created most of this problem as I can see there are hardly 15-20% original beneficiaries for these 2002-2003 Labors.
Employers made Labor Sub a Devil by misusing it. It has been provided to employers as a valid advantage from employer perspective.
Infact GC has become a retention perk for the employer and from the employer perspective all they need is unlimited H-1B permits. All this added to the fuel that GC has become a perk to the employee because they suck up 6 years of H-1B servitude and not a Employer benefit anymore.
I think the Govt and USCIS start to think now that
H-1B is employer benefit
GC is employee benefit
and they are slowly moving to make changes in the current law.

depression is created by anxiety and hopelessness.
I am also like many others, suffering from GC related depression. After reading the posts, now I feel more comfortable that I am not alone:)
Two steps I wish to take: (1) Not to think about getting GC any more. Whether I am anxious or not, it will take its own time and let me develop the habit of patiently waiting (2) Have a back-up plan ready.

So you are laid off so what is the big deal? You should be able to negotiate somehow or escape layoffs by doing something or the other. There are people in my company who survived 6 layoffs. Your layoff is your problem and nothing is fair in the globalization.
Actually my company went bankrupt and eventually everyone got laidoff...
I have paid taxes to this country for 9 years now and I deserve a GC.
We have had to give up our dreams stuck at the same job for 5-6 years..Did not take promotions, pay hikes with fears of screwing up the GC process...many got laid off....
The process is just screwed up..no other country follows it and it is the same process from last 20 years...

If I were in a similar situation, I would be leaning towards taking some action so that they know that they cannot step over the rights.. If they employ a person, pay him as per the law. If they decide to file for GC, then the employer needs to pay for it, per the law.
The problem with walking down the slippery slope of being amicable is that the boldness to stand up for the right thing also starts slipping away.
I like the idea of writing a letter and reminding them of the law. Even if you might not gain (forget the $4Gs for a sec), you will be making the path better for everyone behind you. And that, my friend, is an excellent thing.
