By Self employment, do you mean working on 1099 or by starting a business and working for it?
Per my lawyer,
1. USCIS does not mandate that you must inform when you invoke AC21. You can inform them if and when you get RFE.
2. I strongly believe that we should not accept job offers that is not related to the job you originally applied for. My lawyer says it is usually vague and if USCIS determines other wise I will be in trouble. And for the same reason I am hesitant to accept very good employee offer from my current client.
3. Self employment is ok as long as the requirements are met and that is what is I am doing now.

Few days ago, I saw this on TV - An American soldier died in Iraq leaving behind a 29 year old Polish wife and 6-month-old US citizen baby. Wife's paper (adjustment of status from K1->GC) was pending for 6 months or so with USCIS. When USCIS came to know about the death of that soldier (US citizen and I do not know how they came to know about it), they issued deportation order for his wife. Reason being, primary applicant is no more in this world so his dependent's application is null and void. She has been running from door to door with a baby in one arm and death letter of her husband with deportation order in the other arm. There is no one to listen to her. She lost her husband; she is going to lose her house and ability to stay in this country.
I absolutely hate to say this but Mehul, I think your wife will be better off in her home country. Please weight this option as well. My prayers are with you.

I have PD of Dec 2005 and I140 approved in June 2006 from TSC. Filed 485 on July 3rd .checks not cashed yet neither received the Receipt notice. Called up and lady checked the system and my 485 app is not in the system. She told me to call around 20th to check the status. What are they cooking ? I am not sure.

If Yes, i will really appreciate if you can contribute and help us in any way. This is an organisation run by people like me and you, who have full time jobs and have families also. If we all can take out some time out of our busy lives and try to help IV, then everyone will know about IV.
When we say we need to convince people, which is ridiculous, as i am 100% sure, everybody knows whats going on. We all are suffering and are here fort he long haul. If still people dont want to do anything, then no one can help us.

When I joined Company X (prior employer) I paid for H1b transfer fee and h1b renewal fee(total $3200 + $3000).
They agreed to sponsor my green card(just to give required paperwork) and they asked me to pay GC cost, So far I have paid $1500 for labor +$1700 advertisement + $1700 for I-140 + $3750 just now to file I-485 for me and for my spouse as dates were current to my lawyer . I have labor and I-140 approved from Company X.
I was compromising my personal life by staying away from my family and company X didn't find any client near to my home. I decided to stay at home hoping Company X will find some client near to my home. I was on a bench(no salary for a month).When I asked for a "employment letter "to file I-485 Comapny X said they can't give because they are
not paying me , I said I will resign and then you give me "future employement letter". I resiged Company X( i found company Y near to my home), in 10 days they cancelled my H1b visa without informing me, gladly I found Company Y and H1b transfer took place before they could cancel my H1b. Company X is reluctant even today to give future emplyement
letter.They are ready to do corp-to-corp, for that I have to pay them H1b tranfer cost of $3200(as my prior h1b got cancelled by company X) . I don't beleive its worth going back to them , but at the same time never wanted to lose $8650 green card cost. Well, I am a legal immigrant from Mexico, I have an MBA, my race is white (100% European as are more than 10 million Mexicans) and I do not wear a "sombrero".
I thought that this forum was for us all to help each other and not enter these types of useless arguments. I cannot believe that the posters of these racist messages, who are Indian, are falling into the same sterotypes that Americans fall into in regards to India. You are doing that with Mexico. I have been to India, I urge you to go to Mexico and see for yourselves what the country is like before passing judgment.
Mexico has 100 million people vs. India's 1 Billion plus, yet Mexico's GDP is essentially equal to India's (India = 775,410, Mexico=768,437). All the people that you see immigrating here are of course the poor and uneducated who can come here in large numbers because of the simple fact that (hello people!) we share a land border with the U.S.A. (What would happen if India shared a land border with the U.S.A. - One can only imagine! Instead of 7 million illegal Mexicans, we would have 400 million illegal Indians here!) I invite you to visit Mexico, where in some parts you will think you are in Sweden. And again, yes! have been to India!

And worst is the lottery...What pisses me off is that there are 220,000 visa numbers every year for family based GCs while skilled immigrants get only 140,000. Nothing wrong with immigrants wanting to bring immediate family members but this is causing nothing but chain migration. I think USA give more GCs to cab drivers than skilled immigrants.
