    i don't normally go for tricked-up stuff, but this one kind of hooked me. I did the "Ansel Adams" conversion to B&W which gave me a contrasty and "antique' look. Then I merged it with the original at about 45%.

    This gave the shot a very surreal look.

    Luckily I had all but the 1st one when I entered in US. Please see the format letter below [please note that I am copying the format from a word doc & may not display correctly

    In response to your letter requesting evidence for FORM I-131. Please find below mentioned details.

    a. Copies of all I-94 issued- I do not have copy of I-94 that was issued to me on <>Date (my first arrival in US on H1). The original I-94 was returned to airline official at the time of boarding the flight.

    also to consider is EAD renewal. if your EAD renewal does not come through in time you can get in to all kinds of mess. I know of someone that had to leave their job sit at home and then get hired back once Ead came through.

    I called my Civil Surgeon yesterday and asked her if she was willing to fill out a new I-693 form because it has been changed. Well, she was willing to fill out but said the old data (May 2008) is not valid, precisely TB test/Blood work/Physical exam. I thought it was ridiculous because all she had to do was validate her own results from the last exam. She was open for validating any vaccination records but not her own tests that she conducted.

    I really don't want to spend $200/person again for the tests which she has already conducted. Anyways. I guess I'll have to pay her and get the new forms signed.

    Is anyone in the same situation?

    Here is my story:

    I work for Company A. Got an offer from Company B who is a consulting company. Got placed in a project which is like 1.5 hrs away from my home (I accepted this opportunity for my GC and everything was fine). Company B filed for my LCA for the H1-B transfer. They accepted to pay all the H1-B transfer fees.

    Here is my problem:

    1 week after my LCA was filed, I came to know that my wife was pregnant. As per the doctor she needs some close attention and care because of her health condition(atleast for 2 months). Also, I have to take her for tests minimum once per week at a hospital which is quite opposite in direction where company B placed me (2hrs ride).

    I came to a conclusion not to take this opportunity because of my wife's health and also keeping in mind how the new job will treat me (in terms of flexibility. leaving early, WFH etc - for my wife's treatment). I felt this was a genuine reason from my side.

    I informed Company B about this change of plan because I cannot commute such a long distance having these constraints in mind (not good for me as well as not good for the new project).

    Company B is asking me pay $3000 for some damages and they say that it is as per the contract.

    To my true knowledge I did not sign any kind of contract with them neither the recruiter told me anything. Now Company B is saying that minimum 3 months is required or I have to pay for H1-B transfer and all other fees.

    The offer letter that I signed clearly stated that the employment is "At Will" in nature which when asked now, Company B is saying that is for GC and Citizens (which is not mentioned anywhere in the offer letter).

    The thing is that they are threatening me and they were so rough and hard when I finally spoke to them. They said that they will be sending the vouchers for me to pay them back.

    I thank God for not joining this company as I came to know about their true colors now, they are so money minded and the words they spoke were so harmful. I am pretty sure they would have created more problems for some other reasons if I had joined them.

    Even though I did not sign any bond, I am really scared by the way they spoke to me. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.

    There is a new memo out which will screw the life of these pimps. Rise up and name company B here. I will suggest you a way to file a complaint with DOL.

    Not illegal if you are also present in the recording.

    - son of a lawyer... not a lawyer myself.

    hopefulgc is right.....laws vary by each state, but basic rule comes down to atleast one party on both ends consenting for recording. In this case, you have consented yourself for recording & recorded it. Also only if want to make it public this rule applies, If you are recording for your own reference it doesn't apply (disclaimer: consult a professional lawyer...)

    Even I faced a similar situation with my manager (of course a desi). He would promise some things (like promotions) & the end of the year he would completely deny any promising like that. So I used my cellphone (most of the cellphones come with a voice recorder feature these days). Whenever he would take me for one-to-one review meetings, i would simply activate the voice record shortcut & keep my cellphone in my upper left pocket; later I when I played I laugh out loud for hours & hours for all the smooth bullshit he talks. Of course I never went public with them, kind of keeping them as secret weapon.

    Clarifications

    1. Can I apply for the H1B Transfer with another Company ? I got a offer from a Company and they would like to do the H1B transfer and they are stating that there are no issues for H1B Transfer though the Extension got denied.

    2.Since the H1B Denied, From When I have to stop working ? Is it after i receive my denial documents?

    4. If transfer is possible, Can I start working based on the H1B Transfer Receipt Notice ? or Should I wait for the H1B Transfer Approval Notice to work ?

    enggr: You have completed the course in 2000 (per course completion certificate), but your degree was awarded in 2002 after you completed a supplemental exam. Since the position requires a candidate who qualifies for EB2, USCIS will deny your 140 petition. IMHO, you will have to start your green card journey from scratch.

    If you are sponsoring your spouse, you need to submit an affidavit of support. It is I-134. This forms needs for you to submit bank statements, tax returns etc. with it.


    This is incorrect.

    The easiest way to address such questions is to take a few minutes to read the instructions to the form I-485 (which is available on the USCIS website at http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-485.pdf). An affidavit of support is needed in the EB context, only if the applicant's family owns 5% percent or more of the sponsoring employer.

    Sending tax forms, W-2, bank statements, etc. is part of the overdocumentation approach. But note that these are not required.

    This question has been asked and answered many times. So please (a) search the forums before opening new threads and (b) read the instructions to the form.

    Also, if any of the answers on this thread were useful, consider contributing to IV.

    I got denied by discover credit card due to not having a green card.
    They said, it is just their policy that they won't give credit cards to
    people who don't have green cards.
    I could't co-sign my friends student loan application as i did't have a green card. They said, i have to be Permanent legal resident to co-sign.

    Though i have a mortgage now, my first mortagage application got denied on same grounds.

    Apparently fannie mae guildelines stipulates that H1B(foriegn investment) needs to put 60% down to get a mortgage loan.

    But most of the lenders do mortgages anyways even for the people who does't have a ssn:).

    Discover Card is a bit picky...I applied a second time around and they approved it.

    Student loans - federal loans require full citizenship.

    Putting dollar amount to the signature is something like hierarchy system. People contributed more are on higher rank than others. I am not saying you should not put how much you have donated. But good will be to invite people to join IV. People are our strength. The signature should read

    "IV IS VOLUNTEER ORGNIZATION, HELP YOURSELF TO HELP IV. SO DON'T ASK WHAT IV HAS DONE FOR YOU BUT ASK WHAT YOU HAVE DONE TO SUPPORT YOURSELF FIRST AND THEN IV.
    MEMBERS CAN EITHER RAISE MEMBERSHIP, CONTRIBUTE 5 MINUTES EVERYDAY TO CALL SENATOR/CONGRESS MEMBER OR CONTRIBUTE.
    MY CONTRIBUTION SO FAR IS XXXYYYZZZ"

    These are all good suggestions and translate well from my film days. I also read that, whereas in b&w the adage was expose for the shadows and develop (or print) for highlights, in digital it is the reverse - expose to preserve detail in the highlights and then use your curves in RAW to fix the shadows where you want them. So I'll have to put all that to work this week / weekend. If the flowers stay around, that is.

    Please send emails to CBS 60 Minutes and other media sources. Send them personalized emails explaining backlog issues and efforts from IV. Considering passage of SKIL Bill in lame duck session a remote possibility, this would be a step in right direction. Also it would bring IV in media focus.

    I did think about doing it this way, but it didn't feel the "right thing to do"...

    I spoke to my lawyer on what to do , but I'm not getting a straight answer.

    Do you guys recommend a lawyer that would be able to help?

    I checked Murthy.com and she asks for $250/20min of consultation... Is she that good? Should I consider calling her?

    Plus, your 485 filing receipt, marriage certificate, filing fees check.
    No need to do through lawyer, just fill and print forms, attach documents and mail certified.

    Can someone who has added his/her spouse please provide with a list of documents required to file spouse i-485 after primary has been filed? Can we collect a list? There seem to be a lot of people in this situation.

    Here is what I think is required

    I-485 - Adjustment
    G-325A - Biographic Info
    I-134 - Affidavit of support
    I-765 - EAD
    I-131 - Advance Parole
    I-693 - Medical Exam

    What else is required? Please add to the list. Also, has anyone done this on their own?
